Crystal, Don’t Read Until July 19th 2012. Anyone Else: Go for it

Dear 31 year-old Crystal,

When you read this it will be the summer before J-Dub is in Junior High, J-Dog is in 5th grade, and Princess is in Kindergarten.  Whoa.  I can’t believe that’s only a year away.  Time goes by so fast.  I sure hope last year you were able to get the kids to school on time, at least most days.  I also hope you are pregnant, I’d really like to have another baby some time “soon”.  And I hope you aren’t obese anymore (aside from the hoped-for pregnancy), it’s really getting old by now.  While we’re creating a wish list, could you also be less lazy?  That would be nice, too.  I also would like you to have run a marathon.  It’s a lofty goal but hey, if you don’t aim high you’ll never go anywhere.  Any progress you make in any of these departments is still progress, so good job.  And if you haven’t made any progress I’m sure you have a darn good reason.

Hopefully everything is going well and nobody else died or anything and everyone is healthy and happy.  If not, don’t get too depressed.  That’s life and you’ve been through that kind of stuff before so hang in there.  Here’s the good news: 2011 and half of 2012 are behind you.  Whatever was going on then is hopefully over now and I will do my best to make that happen.  I will watch what I eat and exercise regularly.  I will get the kids to school on time.  I will teach Princess to write the alphabet.  I will read to Preemie.  I will spend time with the boys.  I will also get all those pictures put up in our bedroom that after almost a year after moving in are still in a box.  I will run another half marathon (already signed up for it) and will train for a marathon.  I will do these things for you.  So that you will have a little less to stress about, and a little more to feel good about.  I love you!

-30 year-old Crystal

  1. This is SO great, I am going to do one! Thank you for the inspiration, yo! (And I too have pictures that haven’t been hung in a year… okay, years.)

  2. I like the light tone of your letter. 🙂 Also the thought that if we do the hard stuff now (like exercise) it will benefit the ‘us’ of next year.

I was working on my own letter last night… don’t know if I’ll post it on my blog or not. 🙂 Sometimes I change my mind the next day, in which case I’ll just keep it somewhere on my computer and put a note in my calendar…
